THYATIRA CHURCH FULL OF FALSE PROPHETS

REV. 2: 18 – 29

18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;

19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.

20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.

25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.

26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father

28 And I will give him the morning star

29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Gal 1:1-24

1 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

2 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:

3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,

4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

5 To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.

12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

14 And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,

16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.

19 But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord’s brother.

20 Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.

21 Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;

22 And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:

23 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.

24 And they glorified God in me.

INTRODUCTION:

The church in Thyatira was full of false prophets and false prophecies, who were the false prophets? Where were they come from? And where did they derive the false doctrine. Jesus the Son of God is described, having eyes like unto a flame of fire, and His feet are like the fine brass. The eyes like flame are to see every where and to burn sin, While the feet like fine brass are for judgment with wisdom, and powerful in might and patience. It is indisputable that there false prophets, false Christians and false pastors, why are they so any today? And why is satan dominating people’s hearts today? This is not strange because satan is fighting the last battle, and he is prepared to turn the church of God to false churches.

FALSE PROPHET

This church in Thyatira was known with works and charity, faith and service with patience. And that the church’s last works is more than the first. Actually these are good qualities for a good church Good works; love for God and charity to brethren, faith patience, service and the last work more than the first.

However, corruption reared its head in the church in Thyatira when they allowed Jezebel to teach them. The ungodly have taken over the pulpit. She deceived them with her witchcraft miracles. Although, women are useful vessels for God since Christianity does not give room for cultures like masquerade festival where women are prevented from participating in some aspects. In the church of Christ, there is no discrimination, “no difference between Jews nor Hellenists, bond, free, men nor women for all are one in Jesus Christ.” The women were not left out in the pouring out of (Holy Spirit – Joel 2: 28 – 35; Gal. 3: 28).

Even the Apostles gave recognition to women in the church – Romans 16: 1 – 2, 7 women like Phebe, Priscilla, Mary, Tryphenian, tryphose, Persis and Julianah. In the old testament, God used prophetess Deborah – judges 4:l 4. Likewise, Huldah the prophetess whom king Josiah consulted – ii kings 22: 12 – 20. God used Balaam’s as.

He used the cock to remind peter three times. Also, He used mosses’ rod. For God to have used all these including the animals, ‘He can use women to carry out His mission. When this happens, the devil will not have them as his tools again. The Jezebel mentioned in this lesson she’s the false prophetess, who teaches others that fornication, adultery and idolatry are pardonable before God, Such prophet prophecies outside of God. Therefore, as these prophets took over the control of the church they were forced to welcome all the false doctrines. Ha! How would people continue using God’s name in doing evil? Many do not have regard for “thou says the Lord, again.” Now, the question is, how did these prophets receive the Holy Spirit? They were fornications, adulterers, and adulterers who introduced false doctrine to suite their satisfaction. These false doctrines from the false doctrine from false prophets are totally against the Bible and holy living.

FALSE PROPHETS BEHAVIOUR

Moreover, these false prophets syncretised the worship of idols, they saw no difference between Christians and unbelievers, claiming that they serve the same God. They have turned the church into business center. They do not treat members as the children of God but squeeze money out of them always.

Many claimed to have been directed by God to marry a particular man or woman, when God did not speak to them. Likewise, many youths, who would have been useful for God, have become general overseer claiming to have received revelation from God, whereas they were directed by the dolls on their hearts. God said, among my people are found the wicked. It is saddening hearing how pastors murder one another because of posts, cases of rebellion to the extent that the children of God are weakened and discouraged.

Meanwhile, if you are in this position, there is room for repentance. Understand this that there are three judgments on Jezebel and false prophets.

  1. They will be inflicted with sickness – Rev.  2: 22- 23.
  2. Judgment upon the co-adulterers.
  3. Her children will be killed.

However, God is patient; Although He recompenses and rewards every individual his work. The following are the three things which a Christians should to – Rev. 2:25

  1. Hold fast on to that which is good.
  2. You must be victorious over devil, sin and flesh.
  3. Be faithful to the end. That’s being steadfast and zealous till the end.

THE FOUR PROMISES FOR THE CONQUERORS – Rev. 2: 26 – 29.

  1.  Power and authority over nations.
  2. Use the staff of iron for judgment.
  3. Destroying all impediments.
  4. Receiving the MorningStar

He, who has ears, should listen to what the Spirit is telling the church. Beware, so that the false prophets will not deceitfully drag you to hell! Shalom.
